WINTERS’ LOVE

It was a quiet summer evening when we first met

I still remember how it seemed like I was no longer on the earth

How warm I felt on the inside and shivered on the outside

That feeling of instant craziness and total loss of one’s mind

I’m sure you understand what I’m talking about; don’t you?

If you are reading this it means you too must have been in love before; haven’t you?

That sudden gravity pulling you towards someone instead of the ground

And all you seem to think about is this gold mine that you’ve just found

Where you forget what you want because you’ve found all you need

That desire to follow where ever it is the story leads

But sometimes even knights in shining armours become your darkest night

And damsels in distress are the wicked witches of the east waiting for a fight

Picking on shallow reasons to fire the first dart straight for your fresh heart

The same that seem to be the only joy in your life are the ones that make you cry all night

The ones that put your whole world together are the ones that tear it apart

It makes you see how right Shayne was

And indeed love at first is summertime

That’s when you think that everything is fine

No one ever thinks it’s gonna end

And when winter comes you are left alone and you just freeze up again

The sad thing about that is how you must have pushed everyone else away

Thinking you’ve found all the warmth you will ever need

But when winters love strikes you end up lonely with no one to melt the snow.
